Silver Tea

Well believe it or not, a couple years ago at a garage sale, we came across this find. The girl selling it actually said, it was my grandmother's, my mom will probably be mad at me for selling it. My husband, at least 3 times asked her is she was sure, and said maybe you should keep it, she wanted to sell it, we bought it. For $15. Click on images to enlarge.
The tray- it is large and heavy.
The sugar pot has a handle that needs to be fixed, we can't seem to find someone in town that will do it....yet., I love the little cream pitcher and butter dish.
a few strawberries, some cantaloupe and cranberry flax muffins

I must confess, I don't know a lot on the proper way to keep silver, it has had a little cleaning but needs more and some polishing. I see why the work of "polishing" silver has led to less using of it, but my- it is so beautiful, it is worth it.

That is a beautiful set!
You know.. I kind of like tarnished silver as well. I think that there is something kind of cool about it. (not filthy but a bit tarnished).
Maybe I'm weird!

So pleased to see your silver and know that others out their are using theirs. I have some from my Mom and try to use it because she loved it so (I keep it in non-tarnish bags which help reduce the polishing). Hope you'll stop by and get in on our giveaway -- we'll announce a winner on Monday. -- Jane F.

How pretty your silver is! I've enjoyed picking up some nice pieces as well in the past year or so.

You are right about cleaning it. I love silver but it seems you get one piece polished and then it's time for the next! I love the hutch in your header!

Come ove over for a $100 transferware giveaway!

It's always amazing to me how people can sell family heirlooms, but it was a lucky day for you that they did! Thanks for joining the tea party today.

It's beautiful! How very sad that the girl sold her grandmothers lovely silver set. But you are most certainly enjoying it.
